Situated on the beautiful Treasure Coast of Florida, in Port St. Lucie, Amethyst Recovery Center offers outpatient substance abuse and addiction treatment, as well as dual-diagnosis support for men and women suffering from chemical dependency.
Amethyst Recovery Center is relatively affordable, has a dedicated and professional on-site staff, and provides safe and structured sober living for its patients.
The facility got its name from the amethyst crystal, known for its powerful healing properties and has historically been used to treat alcoholism and other addictions.
Amethyst Recovery Center offers a full continuum of care for the treatment of substance abuse and co-occurring disorders, including 24-hour-monitored detox, residential treatment, but also intensive outpatient (IOP), and general outpatient programs.
Prior to admission, clients undergo a comprehensive assessment and must complete detox. Each patient receives an individualized treatment plan.
Furthermore, those enrolled in the day/night care typically attend treatment for between 38 and 45 days, and get a minimum of 40 hours per week of individual and group therapy. They receive cognitive behavioral therapies, as well as trauma-focused eye movement desensitization and processing. The program also offers substance abuse education, life skills training, and employment or educational support services.
The Intensive Outpatient Program lasts between 30 and 60 days. Patients here receive a minimum of 9 hours per week of individual and group therapy, along with the option to stay in a sober living facility during treatment.
Basic outpatient clients attend just one 90-minute one-one-one session. During these sessions, clients receive assistance with appropriate referrals for mental health, medical, financial, or any other problem the client is facing. This Outpatient Treatment is also the last phase of the entire treatment.
In addition, family members can also participate in treatment, and family therapy sessions are held twice a week.
Typical Day at Amethyst Recovery Center

But patients seem to be loving this kind of set up, “the facility has a positive family feel with a small intimate setting for more specific care. This facility helped several of my loved ones to find long term sobriety and happiness.”
Residents regularly attend 12-step meetings, adhere to curfew, work the steps, and also participate in community service. Group topics usually include relapse prevention, trauma, anger management, coping, and life skills.
However, there’s so much more than healthy meals, chores, and therapies at Amethyst Recovery Center. Patients can also engage in holistic and experiential activities like daily yoga and gym sessions, and weekend recreation at the beach, the movies, or on the bowling alley. There are also painting classes, equine therapy, and air-boating trips.
In addition, there’s plenty of TV time for those who enjoy it, however no internet is available.
