1.      Treatment

Sober College offers detox, residential treatment, intensive outpatient, and sober living. All residents start with the medical detox, before moving on with the residential treatment. The center also offers dual-diagnosis treatment to those who need it.

Upon entering the residential treatment, patients begin with the Freshman Phase where they need to be with a staff member at all times. Sober College’s treatment model is structured around the Five Core Competencies, including sobriety, emotional growth, life skills, productivity, and fitness. Residents learn how to manage money, experience the thrill of playing sports, identify troubling areas in their past, and get back on track with their academics.

Residential treatment lasts for around 90 days and then clients move to sober living apartments for the Intensive Outpatient Program. The Intensive Outpatient Program provides clients with more freedom and responsibility. They maintain their sobriety with the help of a job, school, and less supervision. Patients take part in various sessions, as well as a number of individual, family, and group therapies.

Upon completion of the program, clients can stay in touch with the sober community and participate in aftercare to reduce the risk of relapse. Sober living homes are near the main campus where patients meet weekly for sessions with their therapist, counselor, or psychiatrist.

Typical Day at Sober College

They engage in fun activities like cart racing, skydiving, surfing, snowboarding, and take trips to the mall, the beach, Six Flags Magic Mountain. 4.      Reviews

Sober College has a 4.7-star rating on Facebook, 3.7 stars on Yelp, and 4.9 stars on Consumer Affairs. Some of the comments include:

The program is wonderful. Patients attend the 12 step program, but there are also requirements that include taking college classes, making art, working out at a gym, participating in community activities. My son has been encouraged each and every day to understand his past drug use, his emotional patterns, his general strengths and weaknesses, and how to go forward in his life optimistically, enthusiastically, and soberly. – K.W

Thanks to Sober College I am a year away from receiving my bachelor’s in computer science. Every opportunity I have today is thanks to the amazing program at Sober College. In total I spent 20+ months there and can honestly say not only did I learn about staying sober I learned many life lessons that have made me into the man I am today. E.C.C

This place was an absolutely horrible, possibly traumatic and devastating experience at the time. The psychiatrists and mentors were completely misguided misinformed and outrageous in their behavior towards me. They created an environment where I felt hopeless, desperate and on the verge of suicide. – J.B
