Jaywalker Lodge is a private rehab located in Carbondale, Colorado that specializes in the treatment of substance, drug and alcohol abuse.
Guiding and helping young men find sobriety and fulfillment in life, Jaywalker Lodge is an affordable and reliable rehab center.
This treatment center provides a nurturing environment for meaningful learning and growth, and is well-known for its attempts to treat patients who have failed elsewhere.
The treatment program at Jaywalker Lodge offers a continuum of care that includes three stages, The Landing, The Lodge, and Solutions.
The Landing is the first phase of treatment and is an introduction for new patients to Jaywalker staff, programs, and community. This stage also includes a complete medical and psychiatric assessment. Since the center does not offer detox services on-site, each client needs to arrive at the facility clean and sober. Furthermore, during this stage, patients attend AA/NA meetings, do daily chores, engage in recreational activities, and take part in individual and group counseling. Treatment at The Landing can range from 3 to 21 days.
The Lodge or extended care, is the second stage of the treatment program, and it provides relapse treatment to adult men. This stage is intensive, restrictive, and requires a 90-day minimum stay. It is heavy on group meetings, service work, and psychical activity. Every week includes individual sessions with addiction clinicians, spiritual care staff, wellness specialist, and mental health professionals. This stage is 12-step based, but it also has no shortage of holistic therapy options, including meditation, yoga, and acupuncture.
Solutions is a recovery model that assists patients in implementing a sober lifestyle. It is additional 90 or more days of care where patients work on reintegration into the workplace, or on continuing their education. Patients attend 12-step meetings, and have 11 hours of counseling per week. Weekly activities include equine therapy, photography and art therapy, CrossFit, hiking, and mountain biking.
In addition, Jaywalker Lodge also offers the Modified Integrated Outpatient Program. Clients here have the opportunity to put into practice the recovery skills they previously learned while still participating in treatment program. Patients do 12-step work with a sponsor, take part in individual and group counseling, and engage in alumni activities.
Typical Day at Jaywalker Lodge
Patients at Jaywalker Lodge are all men, and the average age of the residents is mid to late twenties. Days at the facility are restrictive: patients can’t use their laptops, cell phones, and can’t leave the lodge unaccompanied.
A regular day at the center starts early with the morning check-in and the CrossFit/yoga session. All clients are assigned chores on a weekly basis and these can include kitchen duties, bathroom duties, vacuuming, mopping, etc. Jaywalkers are also responsible for cleaning their bedrooms and making their beds.
After a break for breakfast, group therapies start. Lunch is followed by more group and individual therapies, and meeting with a drug and alcohol counselor. After dinner, clients have some free time to work out, watch TV, work on assignments, call family members, or relax. They also attend a 12-step meeting every evening, including AA, NA, CA, ACA, and Alanon.
Since mountain sports are a huge deal at Jaywalker Lodge, the facility attracts predominantly young men. Clients can choose between a wide range of activities, including river fishing, mountain biking, rafting, skiing, snowboarding, swimming, and other. Patients also meet regularly with local groups like Aspen Homeless Shelter, Habitat for Humanity, and Colorado Animal Rescue to aid those less fortunate.

2. Accommodations and Food
Situated in the beautiful Rocky Mountains, Jaywalker Lodge provides a serene setting for personal growth, and genuine recovery. Patients stay in a historic townhouse in Carbondale, and share a room with other roommates. All bedrooms are comfortable and basic, with flat-screen TVs, leather furniture, a hot tub, and amazing views of the mountains.
Clients are responsible for cooking themselves breakfast and lunch. The kitchen is always fully stocked and clients cook and clean together as a community. Additionally, since Jaywalker Lodge strongly believes in a family-style sit-down dinner, a chef prepares the dinner meals. This on-site chef is a former Executive Chef of the Ritz-Carlton who prepares dinner five evenings a week. Clients take turns cooking on the weekends. Favorite meals include pork tenderloin with goat cheese grits and a zucchini pappardelle, and maple-glazed salmon with risotto and jumbo asparagus. Once a month, there is AA BBQ and every Sunday is take-out night.
The staff at Jaywalker is a multi-disciplinary team of substance abuse and health professionals, some in recovery themselves. There are eight program directors at various levels, seven therapists and counselors, nine residential/patient care coordinators, as well as eight administrative team members.

I went to jaywalker lodge’s solutions program as a last resort. I had been to no fewer than 15 treatment centers and halfway houses with absolutely no success. The staff and alumni helped drag me out of my darkest days and I am now over 2 years sober and a very successful college student. – Scott
This was by far the best treatment facility I have ever attended. I truly believe that it takes 90 days of quality treatment to wrap your hands around sobriety. This place saved my life and I will be forever grateful for this program. – Morel
Jaywalker Lodge saved my life. The community here showed me how to LIVE sober and identify as a sober person. My sobriety is fun, and I am very grateful for the tools I learned while a client at Jaywalker. – P.W
I am 100% confident that at least one of our two sons would not be alive, if not for the amazing staff at Jaywalker. The most amazing thing about Jaywalker is the continuing support the facility provides to the sober community in the area, which includes all alumni. – Gratefulmom

With its focus on self-actualization rather than just recovery, Jaywalker Lodge is hard not to be admired. The center offers an exceptional and relatively affordable program, but if you can’t leave home for extended periods of time, then you should seek treatment elsewhere. But if you’re a man who’s willing to do a minimum of 210 days of intensive recovery and love wilderness adventures, then Jaywalker is definitely the place to be.
